I should have taken more time measuring the front ring gear of the 2002 tracker while it was out to see what kind of difference in thickness it had in comparison with the 1st gen front gears.
The 2nd gen Trackers came with 4.62 in the 4-door 5spd models, 4.88s in the autos AND 5.12s in the 1999 and 2000 2-door models that came from the factory with the 1.6 liter engines. Not many of them produced, but I'd sure like to find a pair of gears from one. Direct bolt in without having to screw with changing CV lengths.
For a 5spd equipped 4 door truck that would provide some serious increase in mechanical advantage and would probably put you back to near stock mechanical advantage while running 31" tires. It would be even "more better" if a pair of 5.38 gears would installed.
