WTB: Clutch Pedal assembly for 1997 GEO Tracker(4 door 4x4)
« on: August 13, 2012, 02:49:22 PM »
My clutch pedal broke off. It had been welded before and would prefer not to re-weld.
Here is a picture of the whole assembly.

Yes there are 2 set-up's, 95' and older and 96'-98'

I went thru two clutch pedals. The pedal always felt very stiff(went thru 3 cables as well), the cause I discoverd was the stock clutch cable retainer on the fenderwell. It holds the cable up and away from the exhaust mani, but this  amplifies the cable resistance several fold by forcing the cable into a slight "S" curve. I put a vacuum hose and then a heater hose over the cable near the mani/header and then wrapped it with header wrap to keep it from being melted by the exhaust, and didnt use the cable retainer, just a zip tie to the frame/body far lower,

Are there variations of this assembly?

There are actually 3 variations.  There were 2 versions in the 89-95 timeframe.  I don't recall when the break was in the earlier years, but I have read from reliable sources that there are 2 different versions.

I welded my 98 Sport 3 times. Each time it broke in a different place. I finally just refabbed the whole arm and it held up fine. Mine had the hydraulic clutch.

I have one of these I just removed. It won't fit my 1995, that is for sure.

It's from a 1996 4dr 16v. Let me know if you want pics.

Or send me a text at 905-928-3499

I'm new to youtube but here's a pretty terrible video of the clutch pedal assembly I have. Yes, I left them out in the rain, only for a couple of days tho!

Didn't think someone would be after these!
