megasquirt

Is anyone on here using a Megasquirt pnp? Or any Megasquirt as a stand alone?
Thank you for any feedback!

I dont think they have a plug n play for any of our ECM's.  What engine/vehicle were you considering using MS on?  ...and for what reason(s) out of curiosity?

This should get you started tho:

Thank you!! They have a pnp kit that requires assembly. I have a turbo on my 16valve with 5 speed 1994 4dr. I thought this would work good on it for tuning capabilities. Faster processing, etc..

Anytime.  Could you link me to the PNP please?

BTW i love the functionality even though i only have MS1 v3.  Do you have a wideband 02 already? Any links to your rig?

They have a pnp kit that requires assembly.

PNP = plug and play  (doesn't require assembly)

The only place I know of that has pnp kits is diyautotune.com and I didn't see a listing for G16 engine as suspected.  Not sure if i am missing info or you are! ha  They have them for a lot of more popular tuner cars though.

Are considering buying a kit and doing all the soldering yourself? What are you doing now to add fuel?  How much boost? Stock engine/injectors?

http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/diypnp-nippon-denso-76pin-unassembled-kit-p-384.html

I'm Running a stock engine and injectors with a high pressure 255lph pump and 12:1 vortech FMU.

the Turbo is a Garrett T25 with .64 A/R Turbine housing and .80 A/R Comp Housing 8lbs. Boost

Diy Autotune calls it a Diy plug and play because most is assembeled, the plug is correct for many cars including the 1992-1995 sidekick and the `96-`98. mine will use two plugs and the later (OBD 2) uses all of the plug. Matt it the guy who emailed me back on the kit. He said a group buy they would assemble completely and do a base tune. From what I have read, your MS is a good computer. Im buying the Diypnp and assembling the boards and Jumper wires myself, Matt figured 3hrs for a novice. i have soldered before, diodes and such but not a computer. I guess it depends on how much my MS is messing with me come time to do it! lol. You have a nice ride! any complaints on tuning the computer? are you using the Megatune?

I re-read your post and see you are using the tuner studio. That is the same program I will use.
I plan on using the sequential upgrade as well and maybe the boost solenoid. Are you using the speed density or Alpha-N?
do you have the turbo setup dialed in yet?

I need to check out the cost for a megasquirt kit. With 8 years of working on avionics in the NAVY both OMD,  IMD and depot level, Uncle Sam made sure I had the skills. I had built more than a few audio/radio components from Heathkit and other suppliers. This looks interesting.....

I also have the boost solenoid... not currently connected tho. If u link to my website I have a decent msq file. I have the upper limit at 180kpa. I'm running a Max of 150kpa so u may wanna add fuel across the 180 column.

Speed density I believe.. you'd have to peek.

The key I am missing is an accurate timing map from the stock setup. At some point I will dyno it.

U should start a build page and we can collaborate info. This will make it more appealingly for others.

Its been really fun and a great learning process. You can record while driving and play it all back like a movie.

I think the cost is reasonable. The ms1 is cheaper as there are 2 newer versions. Ms1 has plenty of function for my needs.

I have done alot of tuning with Hondata Kpro and Honda Kseries engines. Far more extensive tuning wise than megasquirt from the sounds of it, kpro has to tune the low cam, high cam map, and every 10 degrees of cam advance(50 degrees total) and then ignition maps for all those fuel maps. Then you can add boost, nitrous, meth injection etc and their associated maps. You could even set OBDII readiness to forced pass even if the engine wasnt even installed, LOL

I am looking forwards to my kit arriving and getting started!!!!

Wow! I have read about Hondata (a little) and it sounds more complicated than the megasquirt. I'm excited to get mine. I'm a little worried about the assembly but I'm getting the assembled test board, the wideband, sequential and IAC upgrade. I will go to flexfuel capability when it is/if more popular! It will be cool the more that have MS the more we can help tune!

I had a nifty tuning tool, a G-tech Pro, it is a dataloggable accelerometer, no need for any $$$$ dyno time,,,,unfortunately it developed feet one day when I drove up to Syracuse and forgot to roll up my window when I stopped at a 7-11 type store.....bonehead move on my part...

That is frustrating when that kind of thing happens, right out of a convenient store! Those aren't cheap either! That is too bad, wouldn't you have liked to catch them in the act! Shiu1018 I will have to look at yours!

What is the best way to start a build page? I'm not sure if I'm going to do the boost solenoid.
So you are using the speed density! Are you using the narrowband O2 sensor only? I'm going to us the speed density and stock 1995 distributor and single MAP sensor. If I remember, you aren't using a second MAP Sensor. I was thinking of using the one MAP sensor for boost and barometric correction. We hunt at high elevation, I will be using wide band so might not need it?? Are you running stock injectors, if so what duty cycle at 150 kpa? Thanks!
