Wow, I can't believe no one has come up with door hinges that we can buy to take the doors off! I have researched and people talk about how to find old parts and modify, Also on youtube there is a guy that looks like he did it a few years ago but not current and no way to contact. I would definately purchase something that is easy that I will not need to figure out how to fabricate. If anyone knows someone that knows someone let me know. I have a 95 2 door convertable Geo Tracker. Thanks 

They have.  It consists of 2 easy to remove pins that replace the pins through the hinges and a clip to replace the pin that is in the door stopper bar.  They are sold for about $50 on ebay, or you can go to your local farm and home store and purchase the same parts for probably $10 or so.

Yep, I got 4 safety clasp hitch pins, .312"(5/16) pin by 2.5" usable length, at tractor supply for <$10. The only issue is you have to insert the upper hinge pin from the bottom up, but not really a big deal.

Here's the pin I used. I couldn't get a pic of it installed, I haven't done the driver's side yet and the pass side was too close to the wall to get the camera in there(it's up on jackstands).


If you can get a pin with a 2" useable length you may be able to drop the upper pin in from the top down. Mine are 2.5" and I had to insert the upper pin from the bottom up.


I thought it was pretty easy to remove the bolts that attach the door to the hinge, tap the stock pin out(after removing the "c" clip) with the help of some penetrating oil. Then bolt the door side hinge half back on. then line up the hinges and drop the new pins in.

I tried the hitch pins, but they are too narrow (US vs metric), and the door sags.  I measured the original pins with a micrometer, but I seem to have misplaced the paper I wrote the measurements on.

When I looked on the internet last summer, I could not find any quick-release pins that were the correct metric measurement.

On mine the original pins were rivetted so I had to cut them off and then replace them with the type with the circlip. Once I had cleaned the paint off the pins I found them easy enough to remove and replace but those pins do look pretty cool.
