1997 GEO Tracker locking hub issue
« on: February 22, 2012, 08:17:50 PM »
I need to replace the locking hubs on my 97 GEO Tracker (5 door). I managed to get hold of a pair of SuperWinch hubs that were supposed to fit. But it turns out the base of the original hubs that are on the car right now are lot wider than the SuperWinch hubs. I didnt notice this until I tried putting the SuperWinch hubs on. They did fit but the bolts wouldnt go in far enough to tighten the hubs. Does anyone here know if the SuperWinch hubs will work if I get shorter bolts? If this wont work, can you suggest an alternative locking hub.
Thanks for looking
Your help will be greatly appreciated

Your description of the issue threw me for a bit, but I think I understand, it isnt a width(dia) issue but a Depth issue of the hubs base mounting flange, either shorten the stock allen bolts or purchase new ones that are shorter(make sure they are high strength(equiv of SAE grade8.8)) and you shouldnt have any issues.
