Metro aluminum valve cover on Samurai
« on: February 05, 2012, 08:51:34 PM »
Anyone using the aluminum valve cover from a metro on your 1.3l samurai? Ive seen them on ebay and it sounds like a direct replacement, looks good and i guess they use a better type of gasket. It kinda looks like there is 1 more port than the sami cover has, pcv valve?

Do you know if the pcv valve goes in the valve cover on the swift/metro?

yes it is but you will use your samurai pcv by adapting it to the pcv location on the aluminum cover

So, I would just plug the pcv port on my intake manifold? Why can't the swift/metro pcv valve be used instead of adapting the sami one?
Hmm, or no, it would have to be a straight through fitting replacing the pcv at the manifold? Or keep all the stock Sami setup and somehow block of the pcv port on the metro cover. Anyone with pictures of this with a stock intake?

Could I order a swift or metro valve cover rubber gasket from an auto parts store to be used on the oem cover? Reason being, the gasket that auto part stores sell is an incorrect mold.

It looks like there are 2 holes in the swift valve cover, only 1 on the Sami cover. So, I guess block 1 off and use 1.

Alot of folks just put a small aftermarket vent filter on the "extra" port.

It depends on what year samurai you have.  If you have an EFI samurai (90-95), then there are 2 hoses that go to the valve cover.....one for the PCV valve and one from the intake air tube.

I'm in Cali. so a vent on the extra port won't fly.

86 Samurai, no fi, stock carb and intake.

Just cap (plug off) the other port then.  No big deal.

Any reccomendations on a particular brand of rubber gasket? I know on my SBC I like Fel Pro but this Zuk is a new animal for me. I just bought a 96 Metro cover like this:

I would also like a recommendation on that rear mini filter if anyone is using 1... What type, what size, where purchased.....

Thanks in advance for the advice guyz!                         Tux...

Tux,

Here's a pic of how I did mine. I will get a better pic when I get home (in a couple of days). I'll see if I have info as to what gasket I used, where I got the filter etc.
