Hey all, got the 1.6 bolted in using the Dodge 318 motor mounts and everything seems to be sitting just about right but I have a few questions.
1. The motor seems to be square with the chasis but the shifter is cocked to the left side of the opening in the tunnel by maybe 1/2", should this be centered exactly? I think I can pivot the 318 motor mounts and get a bit of movement to adjust this.
2. I just happened to notice while bolting on the splash plate for the bell housing that the flywheel is unbelievably close to the back of the oil pan, in fact it might be touching the gasket a bit. I put the 1.3 flywheel and clutch on the 1.6 motor like everyone said to do but this looks really tight. the motor still spins so there is no binding at any point. Is this common? I checked the back of the oil pan on the 1.3 that the flywheel came off and it looks like the gasket is worn flat there also like the flywheel was in contact. Does that sound right?
Side note: I found one of the Honda intake plenums and it fits just fine under the closed hood. Not sure if that is the 318 mounts working or the intake but I have plenty of hood clearance with that combo. (actually have an extra honda intake available, won two on ebay)
