1986 Carb ZUK exhaust in cab
« on: January 04, 2012, 05:05:10 PM »
Hey guys I am a new owner of a 1986 carbed Zuk and i have been getting headaches and feeling sick after driving for a while. I am in the process of changing out a leaking gas tank and will be changing out a rusted muffler. The zuk is running rough when i start it up first thing in the morning if revs up high to bout 3500 4000 rpm after giving it a lil gas it comes down to 2000 rpm til finally settles down bout 800 to 1000 rpms. My thoughts are its running rich and my timing is off bc when i shut it off it will act like it does want to die (dieseling ) I bought this zuk for a toy and a short commuter to work 5 min away from home.... Any feed back on my exhaust problem will be much appreciated

THanks

I replaced my entire exhaust system from the manifold back, including a new 2" headpipe and a new high-flow cat.  I opted for a side-out exhaust because before it kept back-drafting through the back flap of the soft top.  My exhaust exits on the driver's side, right in front of the rear wheel.  No more exhaust in the passenger compartment.  It's probably not ideal for off-road or rock crawling, but my Sammy is a daily driver.  And it sounds great, especially in tunnels!
