Hello everybody! I'm going to switch it up just a little bit. Instead of 'doing' the dunes we've come up with an alternate plan to explore the Winter Ridge area that is South of where we camp and West of Summer Lake, there are some lookouts etc.. to check out and part of this route is part of the OBCDR.

I just sent an email w/more info to participants.

My Samurai is all packed and ready to go!
I most likely will not make it to the La Pine meeting place before you guys leave at 1:00 on Friday; prior obligations won't allow me to leave the coast until later in the morning.  But, I'll try to make it to camp before the chili potluck.
See you guys out there!

Looks like there is a bit of snow on the ground in LaPine, and a little bit more at the pine mountain observatory.  Sounds like there might be a small storm blowing in the area this weekend, too!  Perfect Fall Classic weather!

AWESOME TRIP!!!  Thanks Eric for putting on another fun Fall Classic.  I think the best part was all the good social time around the fire and all the comradery.  But the driving was great too.  And the weather was pleasant!  Thanks again to Bob T. (Kustom Kreations in Salem) and Matt V. for helping me source and deliver front struts to camp Friday night!  That saved me big time!
OK, now to start going over the 470 photos I took...  :)

I'm so jealous!  This is the second year the trips have come and gone and I have missed them.  I hate that.

Just made it back home...the 80 MPH winds and rain here at the coast thoroughly scrubbed all of the mud off of my Samurai for me!
Thanks again Eric; another great trip.
A few more breakdowns this year than in past years, but we still got to cover a lot of ground.
I had to limp my Samurai back to camp with a broken spring plate and only 1 u-bolt holding the front axle to the passenger side spring, but fortunately I had the ready welder with me and a few hours on my back in the snow and it was good to go again!

Eric didn't run out of gas this year.  Weird.

YAY! I had 0.5 gallons left in my tank...

I had a great time out there with every body, it's always nice to feel welcome into a group of people that are as close as you guys are and not feel like a outsider. Thanks for the good times and great memories, I'll post some pics in the pics thread.

Thanks again. Nathan

Had a nice drive backup, went up through Yakima sticking behind a semi most of the way.  Managed 32 mpg until I hit the border, a personal best.
