Hi all - Just updated the list from the emails I got... really looking forward to this year's ride. I'm kicking around taking my Samurai for an added bit of fun.

Question.. Do people that are going want to do a potluck like we have been doing previously?

Potluck is good!
Recently it's been a potluck Friday night and Fort Rock Diner on Saturday night, right?  Gotta love the diner!!  :)

Chili Night is fun.  I'll bring Tabasco this time!

I am OK to skip the diner.  They dont seem to appreciate us very much.  Lets do the potluck Sat night around the camp fire.

Really?  I've always had a great time at the diner.  And I always call ahead to warn them that 25+ people are coming in...  When the outside temps are in the teens, its nice to be served food in a warm restaurant.

I have noticed a bit of gastral distress stemming from the chili potluck on Friday night... Maybe a kinder gentler kind of chili?

I'm totally in for the diner/bar...

I like the pot luck. Chile is great for me. Dinner out was good but your kinda stuck to a small table so not much socializing. I'm good with sticking around the camp.

I agree it's hard to have a big group social in the diner.  Some of us have moved over to the bar side after dinner and had some good social time in there...  :)

Friday Plans for early arrivers:

Bagwell and I are planning to go out for a partial day's adventure on Friday, like last year.  And I'd be glad to lead again.
I would like to do a longer hike / exploration inside Fort Rock...
Any other ideas??

Spelunking is always fun.  Some of the caves now require a permit.  If you had one of those permits you would really feel like an adventurer.  I may be able to join you.

I dont remember the specifics of the previous years just a general feeling.
Last year, the lady was grumpy and the food was cold and overcooked but it took so long to get that we didnt want to send it back.  If I worked as a server in BFE, and had the chance to make a months worth of tips in one night, I would be overjoyed.
Maybe the trick is to get there before everyone else  ;)

Saturday night could have the option of the potluck -OR- the diner...?
Either way, we'll end up back at camp, warm up by the fire, and head out for the infamous 'night-run' into the snowy trails!  :)

Then back to camp to watch Drew pull his rear end in sub zero temps.
