I have a 1in. or 1.5in. shackle lift and I need new shocks.

would original shocks work or do I need longer ones??

I have 1 or 1.5" longer shackles as well... the stock shocks work fine.

i figured out that I have 1.5in lift (shackles are 3in. longer)
I looked up many part numbers and found some longer shocks.

My samurai has some shackle lift (i hate it) about 1.5-2".When I looked into shocks most were for 0-2" lift, they varied in the comp. and ext. length between manufacturer. I put som cheapo Gabriel stock replacements on, they had about the same comp./ext. length as some of the othe brands that said good for 0-2" lift.

the rancho shocks for a 1.5in lift have the same dimensions as the stockers. I don't know how they figure that will work.
I am running F-150 shocks on the front and jeep CJ shocks on the back.

It is dependant on the max and minimum shock travel depression / extention during flex. That is why folks are sometimes reluctant to answer questions comcerning shock length.

For instance you can run stock shocks by flipping the plates from side to side  on a standard Spoa. But, if you take it wheeling and fully extend the shocks very often they will fail.
I know the voices aren't real.... but they have some pretty kewl ideas!!! Tux.....  ;-)
I get my Sammi parts here, and you can too... http://www.mikodaindustries.com/http://stores.ebay.com/sticksnstones4x4samuraiparts
