on the two wires that are melted I would start off by putting a buzzer of some kind pizzo etc. hooking it to the wires (hook two wires from buzzer to each of the melted wires) and start pulling bulbs in the back and moving wires around until buzzer goes out.

dug out the green wires cut them off where they were still good, so I will have brake lights

I think i am missing the turn signal relay, should it be to the right of the fuse block??

still not sure about the blower motor.

I think mine goes in the fuse box, has to be a square blinker relay to fit good.

got blower resistor ordered (it was missing for some reason)

I have tail lights, brake lights NO turn signals

when I installed the flasher and tested the wire with a test light it buzzes instead of flashing.  not sure what to try next.

Trace the turn-signal wiring - there's a short to ground somewhere.

hazard flashers work, had to put a larger load on it to make it flash (test light was not a big enough light)
turn signals still don't work

does that mean I need to replace the whole turn signal-headlight switch assembly on the steering colum??????

Not necessarily ...

In fact - I have no clue what you did check with your test light and larger load.  If you had successfully tested the hazard lights using the turn signals (rather than a test light & dummy load), then you would have eliminated a lot of the possible problem area, and I would have said you need to focus under the dash, but since I don't know where you connected what, we're still in the same position.

Go to www.acksfaq.com and get yourself a schematic for the vehicle and use that as a guide.

i wired a light to my tail light wires on the back,  when I pull up in the hazard flasher switch they blink like they should

when I shut the hazards off and turn either turn signal on nothing happens.

since it is one unit i hope that is the problem

got all my problems fixed!
PO had wired the brake wire and turn signal together, not a good idea

fixed melted wired going to brake switch, replaced missing turn signal flasher, replaced missing blower resistor (heater now works)
wired stereo correctly,

Lots of solder and shrink wrap and it all works and looks good now.
