What do you think I should do...

OK, I've decided to sell my 1972 Suzuki LJ10 because I want to concentrate on building one of the 3 Samurai I also own and don't want to spread myself too thin with differing vehicles. That being determined, I listed the LJ on CL Tucson and a person who owns no less that 13 Samurai offered to provide me with my asking price, $1,000, in samurai parts to use in my build. I really want to trade with this guy because he will treat the LJ with respect and has the resources to make a real cool vehicle with it, as opposed to the CL responder who wanted to offer me $450 and send the JL to the crusher.

I would like to build an strong vehicle, not necessarily an all-out rock crawler that is useful for nothing else, but mostly a unit that is off-road, yet capable of  traveling down the roadway to reach off road access points within say, 100 miles of my home, 15 nm north of the Mexican border in Cochise County, AZ. I want a strong trail samurai with enough suspension but not too much as to look stupid, enough power to climb China Camp in the Dragoon Mountains, but also enough speed to do 65 down the Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway to get there.

Here's where your opinion comes in....
What parts should I ask for from my intended trader in order to build my dream Samurai. I will likely use a 1986 samurai as a donor for this project.
Some of the parts offered include a set of Dana 44 axles from a 70's Cherokee, are these desirable?
I appreciate your input,,,,
