I'm looking to upgrade my suspension a bit, most likely the coil spacer lift commonly run on here, in conjunction with Crown Vic rear shocks.  However, being a Toyota technician, I noticed that Tacoma shocks that come on the TRD package (the Bilsteins found on Taco's from the mid 2000's...) look to mount up the same way (ie stud up top, eye bolt on the bottom).  Has anyone tried this, and what were the results, if any?  If no one has tried it, I may be the first:)  I searched, but didn't find any posts on the subject.  I know that if they're too big around, it can become a problem. I haven't checked thickness as compared to stock Trackers yet.  but I will!  Thanks again.

Do you know what the shock rating and compressed/extended lengths are on the shocks?

Bilsteins are great shocks but i personally think they mite be too stiff for a light vehicle, def check the ratings first.

I love the monotube design, i wish they designed a shock specifically for our light vehicles.

According to someone selling them on eBay (where I was looking for some out of curiosity), they are 25" extended, and 15.5" compressed.  I didn't compare compressed, but extended length is about 2 inches longer than Crown Vic shocks from what I found.  I also did not know that shocks had ratings like springs, although it makes sense.  I measured my stock shocks' diameter, |removethispart|@39mm or so.  Tacoma Bilsteins are |removethispart|@39.6-ish mm, so not a huge difference there.  I guess the rating may be deciding factor.

If they work it would be awesome, im pretty sure the front end of a Toyo is heavier than a Samurai, especially since its got a bigger engine, but if they are from the TRD edition than they shouldn't be real stiff, i hope it works out for you.
