I purchased a used Shrockworks bumper. I bought all the hardware to mount it, with one exception: The front tube mounts. I talked to Jim at Shrockworks (great guy, very helpful) about what to use etc. He had said the pipe they supplied had weld nuts on the ends to attach the included brackets. The ID on the pipe should be 1.5", I believe.

So, I need to go buy the 12"-14" long sections of pipe for the mounts. That's easy enough. However, I'm not 100% sure what to use on the ends so I can secure the bolts. Any suggestions? Just buy some weld nuts and weld them to the end of the open tube? I'm pretty novice when it comes to weld/fabwork, so any help would be great!

Another solution is to just put a cap on the tube, drill and tap it.  If you use some 1/4" steel that should be plenty thick enough to not strip out.  If you are really worried about not having enough strength you can also add some welds to keep the mount in place.  Just make sure you put them somewhere you can get a grinder to later should you need to take it off.

This was a response I was hoping to get, and was thinking about doing. I just wasn't sure if it'd be sturdy enough.
