I have a 86 sammi and sometimes when i go to start it i get power but no cranking over of any kind, ill release the clutch then push it in again with what seems like more force and it will start right up. is there a sensor or something that could be going out or maybe a starter issue? need some direction

Check above the clutch pedal see if you see a switch - some US models have a "clutch safety" switch that requires the clutch to be depressed before the starter will energize.

That certainly sounds like the clutch pedal interlock switch needs to be adjusted.
