Just put 16" 33" boggers on my samurai. I have front lockers and welded my spiders in the rear diff.. My gears are stock. My tranny got hot & broke on me. Does this mean i have to gear up?

yep, those tires are over one hundred pounds a piece, I would run no less than 4.62 to 1 gears on it.

With those tires both,do a chart and see where you want to end up at 488 are stronger than 5.12's but the 5' may not get you on the freeway with 6.5 transfer case gears. what r u plans?

I was told by couple of friends to go with 5.38 but they drive jeeps thats why im asking in this forum. transfer case 6.5 but with my budget right now I can only do one... So which one is best to do first transfer case 6.5 or 5.38 diff... Is 5.38 drivable in the fwy? Are the gears to low?

I prefer the t-case kit. It's easier, and gives you the lower low range.  Others like the gears as they don't need the low/low range and it moves the stress out to the axles.

For 33" tires the 6.5:1 should be just about perfect.

One item to keep in mind, on a Suzuki the lower gear sets give us lower high range as well, you don't get that on Toyota or Dana t-cases.

if you go with the 6.4 or 6.5 t case gears with those tires make sure that you put a t case bucket on it before you rip the side off of the t case, those tires act as a jack hammer on the drive train and you will see things break.

Actually about a month ago I was running 30" tires and I ripped the bolts and twisted the transfer case bracket. I upgraded and got the t-case mega mount from rocky-road.com...  Thanks for all the great info
