Can someone help me identify this wire/harness? 88 Samurai
« on: August 21, 2011, 08:58:50 AM »
Still new to the forums, but I've been working on restoring my old Sammy and think I've got nearly everything working on the engine.  Apparently a mouse chewed through this and I just noticed it this morning.  This is the only thing that has me stumped.  I've looked through my Haynes manual and online, but I dont have any idea what this is called so I can get another one.

And  a larger view:

There isnt enough wire to splice, and I decided when I started this project that if it was broken/damaged, I would just replace it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for the info!  I think I'm just going to try and splice them back together and see what happens.

do you know where to get the hose/tube that comes out of the exhaust manifold in your pictures?  I tried at Advance today and they didn't have anything like that and couldn't look up the part.  Knowing what to call it at least may help

I am not sure what the proper name is, but it is like a preheater tube.  It takes the heat off the exhaust manifold and transfers it into the intake, when the engine is cold, so the engine runs better during warm up.  It is a flexible aluminum tube,  but you might be able to get some flexible exhaust tubing to work (although I am not sure that it is flexible enough to make the bends as necessary).  Seems like I have seen people use rubber tube too.

I get my Pre Heater hose from a VW offroad store, last one I bought cost $5.00. The shipping costs more than the hose. ;D
