Do you get the ticking noise when the front hubs are locked, or is it when just rotating the front diff?

Always in the same spot on the rotation?  With the axles pulled do you get the same noise?

seems like its always in the same spot but when the axes were pulled it didnt make the noise. but it was weird cause i swapped new axles in and its doin the same thing as the old axle shafts.
