Monroe Adventure ??
« on: July 21, 2011, 08:14:37 PM »
Anyone familiar with Monroe Adventure shocks?

When I bought my GV (used) I gave it the usual once over, the shocks were good so I paid no further attention, and then one day I noticed the rear shocks were yellow, so I took a closer look, and found a sticker saying Monroe 4x4 Adventure, a quick google turned up nothing.

Today, for the second time, I came across another vehicle equipped with Monroe Adventure shocks - renewing my curiosity, and it seems that Monroe manufacture a shock line specifically for 4x4 use known as the Monroe Adventure - but there seems to very little information available.

Anyone used them - what are your thoughts - mine are leaking & need replacing so ...

That was one of the sites I came across last night - 42 sterling for rear & 200+ for front and I'm not certain if that was per pair or singly - Google didn't bring up any US sites, there were some UK, and more in South Africa and perhaps Australia - I'm wondering if Monroe might have discontinued the product line.

The Tenneco business unit of Monroe appears to be headquartered in Belgium (see link).  Might explain why the US flag doesn't appear on their product links of the above web sites.  Still... there is contact info on how and where to obtain the Adventure series if they are still being produced and it appears they are.  I would be curious WHAT structural differences they have compared to standard Monroe product lines.  May be none?
