This may be a no brainer but are y'all replacing radiator fans with electric radiator fans of the same dimensions?

None of our parts stores keep any instock so I'll be ordering one from online...

Any particular brand/model or feature is a must have ?

I have a 1.6/8v tracker motor that gets hot at idle ...the replacement fan clutches new are $90 so might as well just get an electric fan?

you have another problem.

your rig should say plenty cool at idle. the electric fan as a bandaid wont fix the existing issue and elec's are usually less efficient at cooling. focus on radiator size (for whatever engine you have) and condition, clutch fan operation,  thermostat and headgasket.

k.   I'll test the thermostat and see if the clutch fan spins freely.  I'm fairly certain the radiator is for the 1.3L suzuki engine. I bought a power steering cooler that goes in front of the radiator (and looks like a mini radiator)...so if I have to go with a larger radiator I hope it doesn't interfere with the PS cooler.

Hopefully  overheating is one of the more simple issues to resolve -- Waterpump, fan, clutch, radiator...and worst case head gasket?

Update ... the clutch fan doesn't have anymore resistance when the engine is hot compared to cold... I've ordered a new clutch fan and radiator... I'm taking the radiator out to add the PS setup so i might as well put a new one in... the radiator in the samurai now came with the vehicle...


 

I got my fan from a scrappy, I forget what size it is, the fan clutch on mine was wrecked from wading. There's nothing  wrong with an electric fan, my G16B Baleno has one as stock as do most of the front wheel drive models.

I've seen quite a few radiators half plugged up and doing the same thing.When the T stat opens there shouldn't be cold spots on the rad.
