I have another question ECM
« on: April 29, 2011, 09:07:44 AM »
Well come to find out my ECM is junk. Replaced the cap and it still doesnt start cause it is not injecting fuel. If I jump the red wire out to a hot wire it seems to run good. I pull the hot and it dies. Now my question is can I get a hot wire to jump from when it is in run start position the injector is hot so I can rid of the ECM for fuel. Thanks guys

No you can't the ECU controls the fuelling and the timing. Most likely scenario is that you have a burnt track, I assume that you took precautions against electro- static damge to the ECU.

Yes I did. Here is the thing. I have a fused hot wire on a toggle hooked to the red wire on the injector and guess what it runs great. Just wondering.

If you can get it to run great with a fused hot wire, I would go back and check ALL your power inputs, and your power relay.  When I was doing my engine conversion, I could get it to work by back feeding the power.  It is a matter of always hot power, switched power and correct power to/from the power relay.
My ECM was pretty robust, and seemed to hold up to a few power applications in the wrong spots.

The injector is switched on both the high side and the low side with the low side controlling the pulse width and PWM. The red wire is something someone has put in because the high side switch didn't work. Its not a clever thing to do really because it causes all sorts of problems with high voltage spikes and high recirculating currents in other parts of the circuitry.
