Does anyone know of a vender that can supply a 2in. tail pipe with stock bends, for a 1988 Sami?
Without a flange, just a stock length TP, but 2in.

Hey Ya Hozer,

I don't know your game plan is here,
BUT TOO BIG of an exhaust pipe system will screw up your engine cylinder scavenging and you will actually lose
Power.
Most Short Track racers start with only 1 5/8" primary header tubes.
A full flow muffler will do better to help reducer back pressure.

WHen I first got a samurai I happend to work at an exhaust shop. I tried several different combinations of mufflers and pipe size. This is what I found to work the best.
1.3L header 2"pipe and a free flowing muffler of choice. I actually prefered the sound of the cheap "turbo" muffler.
1.6L 16v header(I assume because I have not aquired one yet) again 2" pipe and good muffler
I will say that I had my standard 2" turbo muffler on when I installed the 16v. It was so loud and raspy(think ricer) that I put a cherry bomb in front of it to act as a resonator. It worked for a while but has burnt out and gotten loud again.

I also tried a flowmaster on the 1.3 with a header and turned down right in front of the rear axle. It was pretty cool except for the higway drone. It was bad enough that I changed it.

I have been running 2.25 inch pipe for 10 years with no problems at all.  1.3 then a 1.6 8-valve.

The system was built at a muffler shop forless than $300 with the only difference being that the exhaust tip went out the side instead of the rear at the back.

I built my own system from the header flange back. Used 2 in pipe and a cheap turbo muffler. When I got to the tail pipe i used a few elbows welded together and ground down,and another elbow to point it out the side. Really sounds like a crotch rocket.

I love the sound! I used a flanged 34in. long glass packed header muffler, & the 2 in. tail pipe turned down just in front of axel.
LOUD!! But I sometimes run open megaphones on my 68 Triumph Bonnie & they are Louder!
As us oldtimers say LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES!!!!!!!!!

I like a quieter exhaust tone, so I changed my safety tactic,
loud tires save lives too My brother told me one day that
he could hear me coming down the road at his house, I was over
1/4 mile away

Another 68 Bonnie owner!! Thought I was the only one left on the planet.

93 Tracker, 1.6 8V, 2" exhaust from manifold back with in house muffler. K&N replacement air filter, catalytic converter removed.

I have not installed a header and not sure if I need to. I may install a resonator to quite the exhaust down a little. with this system I have noticed a power gain better mileage and quicker throttle response.
