Good job, I really would not have thought a crack like that could
waste so much gas and kill fuel mileage the way it did

Yes, I wouldn't have thought it would make that much difference either.  Figure I'm saving $12 per tank now!

I know this is about a FORD but hear me out. My 98 Expedition has a warped and cracked exhaust manifold. I was told do not replace it with another casting but go headers. I get a set of headers and am hoping to put them on this week. My mileage is about 11mpg so I hope this will help. The leak is getting worse as is the MPG. I also would never had thought that would make such a difference. BTW my CEL is also on for that very reason. At least on the Suzuki's you only have to replace 1 manifold.

SouthwestSuzuki.com is where I purchased it, had the best price by a long shot.

Yes, I'm some what concerned that the stock manifold will crack again someday.  The problem with the 16V headers available is the CalMini ones are not smog legal and the Doug Thorley have some design element that concern me.  They move the O2 sensor about twice as far downstream from the stock location and have it measuring only two cylinders not in the main collector.

Also note, my CEL never came on.

GlockGuy40cal, does your Sami have carb or efi?  If it has a carb and no O2 sensor, I'm assuming a cracked exhaust manifold would have no impact on mileage.  On a Sidekick with efi and an O2 sensor, extra air is a problem.

Yes, I'm some what concerned that the stock manifold will crack again someday.

This shouldn't be a problem, as the 16v manifold was redesigned in '94 ('95?) both to correct the cracking issue & it was tuned. It's relatively uncommon for the later version to have cracking issues &, unlike any aftermarket header that I know of, it's a tuned manifold.
I haven't done a header for that very reason. I can't see spending the bucks on one when the stocker is tuned & likely performs better. ;)
