Advice on tires
« on: March 11, 2011, 04:46:26 PM »
Hey guys, I need some advice on what tires to buy.  I want some all terrain tires but not sure what t get.  My wheels are stock 16x6, 215/65/16.

I'm looking at bf goodrich a/t but they dont have my exact size

LT215/70R16/C
LT225/70R16/C

Won't 70 sidewall profile throw off the speedometer?

Are general grabber at2's any good?

Your not changing your profile that much, so your speedo should be close to stock.

215/65R16 = 27"
215/70R16 = 27.9"
225/70R16 = 28.4"

So you will be about 3-5% off.  I run 235/75R15 Toyo All Terrain tires on my 96 Tracker, so just a bit larger then the 225/70R16 tires, and they work great and I still have plenty of power.  If your looking for something more aggressive you might also look at the BFG MTR's, most people seem to prefer them over the All Terrains.

If your not going off-road you might not need the LT tire, or Light Truck.  The advantage of the Light Truck tires is they usually have a stronger side wall.  Having torn open a few tires in the past I won't put anything less on a vehicle of mine that sees any off-highway activity.
