When u start a project
« on: March 06, 2011, 07:00:53 PM »
When start a build do you think it ever really ends. For the past 2 nights I've been up to 2 or 3 in the morning. Everytime I start to leave the shop I find some else to work on. I'm not complaining about it I enjoy it but my wife is starting to get annoyed.

I knock out projects in segments so my wife gets less annoyed. Ill work a ton of hours for a month or so and then use it again for a while so she can apreciate what has been done.

NO, I don't think it will ever end.  Yes, I think ALL wives get annoyed (they care about our health - 2 or 3 in the morning is burning the candle a late).

I think your are correct that it never will end and I hope it never will. I've had my sammy for over 2 months and I have put in more hours working on it rather than driving it. But I love my sammy. It has kept me out of the house all winter. Besides I've been married to the "old woman" for 30 years and the kids are grown so she rather likes me being out of the way! ;)

I don't think it ever ends,  it'll need a repaint, or a whole new "Idea" will attack you in the middle of the night and not let you get back to sleep!!

As for raising kids in your shop, yes it can be very rewarding!!
BUT, ASI H8 BEWARE!!!

I raised 2 boys who are now both grown up and live out on their own;
AND I AM STILL LOSING TOOLS FROM MY SHOP!!
I am about ready to hook up the ELECTRIC FENCE CHARGER to my tool boxes
to KEEP'EM OUT!!!

Capt,  I can relate as I was one to do the same to my old man.  I have learned my lesson, repaying my father and giving my daughter all my mismatched wrenches, sockets, pliers, ect.  She also has an old ammo can that she keeps it all in.  When we work on her toys we use her tools and vice versa while working on my toys.

If the Snap-On truck pulls into my drive,
my wife will kick my ass!!!!!!!  My daughter is 4 going on 12.  Second hand is great for her.  My boy stole the wifes hammer.  She couldn't find it for a month.  She asked if I had it.  I awnsered her question. "NO.  Why in the hell would I have your hammer?"  I knew he had it but didn't tell her.   >:D

Although my daughters are not "Bob the Builder" I buy them tools of some type each year for Christmas. Each of them so far have received Craftman Multi toolkits in the plastic case. Both have receive DeWalt cordless drill / flashlight / saw cordless kits. 1 got a new lawnmower and a weedeater.

Anything I can do to help liberate them I do. Just tryin to be a good dad......  :laugh:

Your the man tuxblacray, I've been giving my kids tools for years. It's like giving them a reason to be more self sufficient.
