G.V,2004,1300,SHORT.

The indic. continues lightening, after engine is running.
No change in motor's functiuning.

1. What are the possible reasons (from highest->lowest possibility)?
2/What damage could be caused to the motor ?. ???

1.  The computer senses a malfunction.
2.  Depends on the malfunction that is/has occured.

Check your fluid levels (oil, auto trans, water)
Stop at a auto parts store/repair shop and ask to have the engine codes read.  Most parts stores will do this for FREE, and they should be able to tell you what the computer thinks is wrong.  There is a way to get the malfunction to flash the codes, but then you have to look up the codes.
