just picked up my first samurai and i had a few questions about it. its an 88 with a spoa lift and 31s with a regeared transfer case. thing runs awesome but at 65 its running 4000 rpm, is this gonna wear the engine out pretty quick if its runnin revs like that for long periods of time? how strong are the axles on these things? its got open diffs on it now but ide like to throw a locker in the rear soon. nice to meet everyone and ill throw some pics up here soon

Your fine, these little engines are made to rev up a bit.  :)

The axles really depend on your driving style.  While chromoly front axles are available the only option for the rear is the Calmini heavy duty rear axles.  I have run 33x12.5 successfully without issues but a lot of people don't like going over 31x10.5" tires.  If you stick with your 1.3L I don't think you will have any issues.

The standard Lockright rear locker works great, especially for the price.  Here is a really good thread discussing the different lockers and some of the pro's and con's:

how strong r the transmissions in these things. mine seems good now but i fear wheeling with a locker could do some damage. also with the spoa and stock springs it rides like a brick. i mean it has a broken lower rear shock mount and you cant even tell the shock is missing. is there a set of aftermarket springs or other springs i could put on it to make it ride alittle better as i do and plan to continue to drive it on the street as my main vehicle

tranny will be fine.  the locker wont hurt it. Been running mine for years with a 1.6 efi and 2 lockers...

Well there are some options for springs, but most will lift it a 2" or a little more. Regardless, the best thing you could do is get springs that are longer. So i would do a little searching here for yj conversions, RUF, CJ rear conversions to get an idea of what will work for you.

Keep fireing the questions...
