I don't know what the TT engine was designed to run at, but the one I drove
didn't seem to have a lot of boost, maybe 5 PSI is what I thought.

Hope the engine is OK, how does the cranking compression sound?

4-5 lbs is limp mode for vw/audi 1.8t's. normal for a 180 hp TT is about 14-15 and upwards of 20+ for the 225 hp model. I am still in a plenty safe range so I am really hoping on just a software issue or maybe another blown coil pack. I will check it out today.

I hope your engine is OK, but you know how it is with a turbo engine, there
is never enough power, well let me rephrase that, we get greedy  ;)

BTW a 1.8L at only 180 HP is not being boosted to 10 or 12 PSI, the N/A
engine should be rated at a little over 100 HP and 10 PSI should about
double that output, mind you I have not looked up any of the specifics on
the Audi engine, I'm just making a general statement about the VW 1.8 GTI
engine, of which I had in an '86 Audi 4000 and what I have learned about
turbocharging in the last 8 or 10 years

the 20 valve 1.8T a wonderful thing.

mine is the ATC engine code. here's some good "in a nut shell" info

http://audittmk1.blogspot.com/2009/01/tt-engine-info.html

why wouldn't the engine be OK anyway? I don't think a bad coil pack will ruin a engine.

Dusy-Ershim trail  sounds cool, I'd like to do a run like that sometime

Some club members went on that trail last year.  There are a lot of pictures over at https://picasaweb.google.com/105298426119042245963/Dusy

WOW....I guess is all I can really say. its unbelievable! I didn't get a whole lot of seat time tonight and I went to square one as far as a tune so it has a long way to perfection but its nuts. crazy fast. it has that pin back feel now that forces your last meal up into your nasal cavity. I am getting it dyno'd the 20Th and having a master tuner check my work and undoubtedly fix things. oh I can feel the tickets coming. :police:

well.. not going to make dyno day, I have been fighting a high idle due to a vacuum leak that I resolved today. its running good but a propper tuning is in order now.

this weekend I will be putting in the front bilsteins and 5.12 front.

OUCH!!!! I ordered bilstein(S) only to realise I only ordered one. WHAT THE $#!% 300 bucks each! GASP!...CHOKE!....PUKE!......

now waiting on second....

BTW ordered first one from Allshocks. co..../turner motorsports. emailed to ask if I screwed up or them (the one strut thing)(the web site was misleading IMO). Kevin foote was a total jerk!
got second one coming from local autozone for 107.00 cheaper! ;D

will photo update soon....

Autozone is the way to go.  I found the same thing and got a lifetime warranty.

finally got a couple hours to work on the kick tonight!

look at my fat shaft!

those billy's are impressive. and boy do they make a huge difference! and not the kind of "I think it's better" difference but it now drives like a new car! I was Leary about spending 500 bones on struts but I honestly feel its worth every penny!

and one point for autozone, they gave me 100% refund on the junk Gabriel's no questions asked and sold me one bilstein for over 100 bux cheaper than the gangsters at allshock.com

also got the 4.62's out and 5.125's in, looks like in the nick of time! look at that front housing.

Looks like a new (or very clean) aluminum one in there now.

With the extra power installed the front diff mount DOES get a lot more strain.  I have stripped out the back mounting bolt in Moab, and just broke the rear mount when pulling the Race car out 10 miles.  I now have a stronger mount, and will put two mounting points on if it breaks again.

I know...I know... :-[. I just didn't have the brace when I did the swap nor have had the time to fab anything.

Keep the bolts tight, they most commonly break when reversing
from the upwards motion, unless you put a collar on it
