ok so what would it take to replace a carb on a 1.3 and put a FI system on it? I am thinking of doing this instead of the whole larger engine swap while im in school so I can get better mpg and then when im out of school do the swap.

That's going to be a lot of work man.

Essentially you have two choices - get your hands on the complete TBI system from a 1.3 Suzuki - intake manifold, with TBI & sensors, ECU, harness, etc., or go aftermarket, which is going to be pricey.

it's just that you may do the work twice; so in time, yes, cheaper/easier....

not to mention the performance upgrade.

do you have the entire 1.6 or just FI and ecu?

I just have a 1.6 8v head right now that needs rebuild I dont have anything else my carb is just being carbish and I dont like it plus I am only getting 18 mpg and was hoping to get alittle better while going to school.

There are a lot more factors that play into MPG than just fuel delivery.

Age of the engine, valve condition, strength of spark, the right spark plugs, etc. can all play a role in diminished fuel economy.

I agree that swapping in a different engine will be cheaper in the long run.  There's no sense in doing double work.  Just save up and be patient.

I say go for it. Its no more work than you would do when swapping a 1.6TBI into a Sammy and plenty of people have done that.
