Hi all, I'm a bit new to Sidekicks and have a basic coil spacer lift and body lift.  I'm now looking at doing some more advanced mods.  I like the idea of only needing one CV axle spare when wheeling so I'm looking at doing the below but had a couple questions.

Do I have to widen the stance at the same time?  Can I just modify the passenger side axle to fit the axle from the drivers side?  And thus avoid remounting the control arms, drilling the frame, and needed 3 spare plates to widen axle mount point.  Also, in the how-to it mentions moving the wheels forward in the wheelbase, reading the instructions through a few times I'm not understanding how this moves the wheels forward.  It reads to me as though it is just widened...  What am I missing?

As you move the rear control arm bolts outwards, it widens the stance but since you are not moving the front arm bolt, it sort of "rotates" the control arm outwards, which moves the lower balljoint mount forward.  I haven't done this mod but it makes sense how it works, kinds of helps to draw it out it makes better sense if you think of how it would "pivot" around that front bolt.

Ah, that makes sense, I guess I missed in reading through that only the rear control arm mount was moved, I'd assumed the front mount was also moved wider.

I tried doing the right axle mod without the widening and it didn't work for me. The problem is when you don't do the widening the axle is to long even if you make the stub axle as short as possible. The other problem is because you are making the stub axle so short [to make axle fit] the bolts that bolt the axle on to your stub axle hit the right side diff mount. I had the spring out so I could raise and lower the suspension to check if the axle was to long and when the axle was level or at it's longest point, I couldn't even get it in place. I did end up doing the widening but only went 3/4 because I am still using a stock front bumper. Yes I did have to modify the front bumper by cutting the lower edge and heating it with a torch and reshaping it front. You cant tell that's different.

Thanks gearjam, guess I'll widen it also if I decide to go this route.

One last question, how do I adjust the steering bump stops?
