FSM for head gasket?
« on: August 31, 2010, 08:02:59 AM »
Does anyone have the relevant FSM section for changing a head gasket that they could share with me?

I'm reasonably handy, but have never done anything that major before. I'm considering buying a Tracker ('94 with 54K miles that needs a head gasket), and debating trying to do the engine work myself to save $$$, or just sending it to a shop as I usually do.

Thanks!

I have a link for a Haynes manual, not the greatest book but
it will get the job done, the biggest thing is getting the oil
hole in the right place to the front or you will seize the cam
in the head in 5 min, and the other is the valve timing, the book
tells you the wrong way to time it, factory timing is crank mark up
and cam mark down, but that's easy if you rotate the marks and
line it all up before you tear it down
