I know everyone has heard about the recent off road racing accident down here in CA and I felt that I wanted to say something in our racing forum. The last race in WA had a spectator accident. I do not know the specifics of that situation but that further prompted this post.
As we aspire to enter into the off road racing sport as Suzuki enthusiasts, I think that it is important to do what we can to both educate ourselves and support our community. I hate to admit that it has taken such a horrible accident to make me think about my safety, the safety of the people around me and what I could do to be more prepared. I became aware of the Fast-Aid site and what they do. This is a great concept for supporting the off road racing community and they do hold trainings on CPR and First Aid.

http://shoprockandrolloffroad.com/products.asp?cat=1329I reviewed our rules and I would like to make a suggestion that we amend our safety rules to require a properly outfitted first aid kit in each of our race vehicles. The contents can be discussed or we could specify a specific aftermarket kit. It's a minimal cost that could save lives. The absolute best case would be you never ever need to use it.
Last but not least, I urge everyone to go get trained on CPR and First Aid basics. If you have been trained and it's been awhile, a refresher course may be in order. I was trained a long time ago and I know personally, I would not be comfortable performing in a situation that demanded these skills.
