seat reupholster
« on: July 13, 2010, 10:57:44 AM »
so we got a seat from a guy a few weeks ago that was all torn up so my wife decided to take the fabric off and redo it. The main reason for doing it is that my wife is a home ec teacher and wanted to show her kids something they can do easily.  My wife proceeded to buy black and green marine vinyl to match our samurai and because we have a 10 month old son and the vinyl will be easy to clean. We are replacing the wire that was in the fabric with plastic snaps to eliminate the rust and to make it easy to put another cover on if we want too, the snaps are going underneath and at the bottom of the top to close the bottom.

Here are some pics so far of what we have so please let us know what you think. We will keep this updated and try to take more pics.

Ask your wife how much it would be to make me front and rear seat covers (not new upholstery, but covers) for a 90 LSi tracker, front and rear.  ;D
Or, I'll "donate" my vehicle for a week for the "educational experience".  Hey, it's for the kids!
God put me on earth to accomplish a certain number of things.  Right now I am so far behind, I will never die.

I will talk to my wife about it but we dont have the original up holstery and it would be kinda hard to make without atleast some old upholstery to use for a pattern.

lol  im done with my sami yet I have to hold onto her until that atleast. just kidding.  she was going to make more covers and try to sell them but her pattern was accidentally thrown away to we have to hunt for another onld seat and take the cover off of it.

Right now we are looking for old tops that may be damaged like a bikini or safari top so that she can use them for a pattern and start selling them. I think that if she can make some good safari tops we could probably find a good demand for them and sell them atleast locally here in utah and maybe send some to my father in tillamook oregon to sell for us but we have to find a cheap old top first.

yup when we both get paid the first of august she is going to start on the front seats and if we can find some damage donor bikini and safari tops to use as patterns she would like to start on making tops to earn alittle extra cash for some dental work that her and i need done. heres some photos of the whole rig so far but I am trying to find a someone here in utah thats willing to do a cheap rear add on to the roll bar for my sami so that my 10 month old son will be protected. The wheels are 15x8's with goodyear wrangler 235/75R15's

thanks everyone for the comments. Once we obtain a damaged safari top that we can use for a pattern im sure she will make an amazing safari top, good enough that we might just start selling them on here if anyone wants them. I have looked up how much the tops go for on ebay and dont want to charge that much but may sell some for about $80 or so depending on the material.

I'll check to see if I still have the full top with the windows cut out or if we finally threw it out.  I just picked up a Safari top to replace it.  :D
