Got a 1993 sidekick........1.6 16 valve.........fuel injected...........can't get to go in self test...........jumped  B &C on the dia terminal.......turned key on .......light will not blink......Runs rough and rich ......black smoke when give gas......give alot of gas and motor will cut out.....Thanks for any help

O2 sensor, check your air filter, and if there are any wires off of the
EFI sensors, like the coolant and air temp sensors, also look at the
MAF to see if the wires are on it and it's in the right way, makes a difference.

Don't stick anything down the MAF or you can ruin it

Are you sure that you had the correct plug for the diagnostic check? usually it has a rubber cover over it. If you did have and you can't get any codes then that points to a bad ECU or a wiring problem.

Or the light itself may be defective - does it light with the key on, engine off?

Hello ...........The light comes on with the key on...........engine off..........pretty sure I got the right plug.......has a rubber cap over it..........one thing that I do that does help...........unplug the idle air control valve........if I leave it pluged in .......the idle gets high and won't come down........I was going to change it ............but costs too much to be guessing.......I though if I could get the codes it would lead me in the right direction ..........Thanks for all your help...........I'll do some more research...thanks

Is it a four pin plug or 6 pin?  If its a 6 pin, you need to jump B & D.
