so... did sommore research and found that carb'd samurais have a High Altitude Controller (HAC) its supposed to be switched one way if you are below 4K feet in elevation and switched the other if you are above.  only problem is the chilton book i have is a POS, go figure and doesnt really do a great job of explaining if its good or bad.  i think this is it tho, correct me if im wrong.

Yes, that is the High Altitude Compensator.

The FSM should give you more info on that part than the Chilton or Haynes manuals.

Carb's don't use an 02 sensor

Umm, all samurais had an O2 sensor.

Umm, that's not 100% correct - maybe all US Samurais have an O2 sensor, but out where I am, Samurais generally don't have O2 sensors.  As a matter of fact, I also have a Grand Vitara with no O2 sensor(s), and yes it is fuel injected.

Yes, I was referring to US samurais.

HAC....unplug it and plug a new one in.
O2 sensor....I believe the FSM has the checking procedure in it.

Unbolt it from the firewall, unplug the pigtail from the harness.  You don't take the HAC apart.  Don't make it harder than it is. ;)
