99 Grand Vitara, rebuilt the motor, everything installed, all juiced up, get in for a test drive. Every time I barely touch the wheel it starts going nuts, the steering wheel spins rapidly the opposite direction. How do I reset this anti theft device? This thing is dangerous. Could have broke my arm!

that doesnt sound much like any antitheft device I've heard of, but then again, I dont dabble in modern vehicles.

Where are you and what engine do you have in the GV?

I agree with Bobthebiker - that does not sound like an antitheft device - I would guess that you might have the power steering hooked up incorrectly - or maybe the serpentine belt spinning the PS pump the wrong way.

Failing those - you've got a problem in the rack itself and it's just a co-incidence that it's shown up after you put the car back together.

GM had a recall on a rack and pinion unit, the bearing at the
bottom of the pinion on the bottom of the rack unit fell out
and the result was a steering wheel that would try to drive
you into parked cars, get under the truck and check it

Well, at least now I know what happens when the lines are hooked up wrong.  :)
