Aqualu LWB Samurai bodies

I just found out Aqualu now does LWB aluminum Samurai bodies, for those of you that have not heard of them they are very well known for their high quality aluminum Jeep and Land Cruiser bodies. Check it out!

that is hereby deemed COOL. because I want me an aluminum tub for my sammy.  actually I want an all aluminum body for my 87.

No rust and LIGHT! If I had money to throw around I'd start with the alum body, and build the baddest Sammy around!

thats basically what I want to do.   the no rust part would be SWEEEEEET.   lotta money, but in my book, I'd call that a well worth it purchase to build an almost immortal toy.

"an almost immortal toy"?????  Do you remember how easy it is to crumple your Beer can?  How easy it is to bend off the tab on your Beer can?  Set a Beer can on the propane burner and watch it melt.  Aluminum is light and strong, good for things like airplanes and show cars.  Aluminum does not perform well when introduced to foreign objects like rocks and trees.  You are starting with one of the lightest 4X rigs commercially sold.  $3500 would make a Sami go with things like ARB's, double TC's, 4-links, winch, new tires, and more power. 
I can weld up a tin body (with torch or wire feed), but you need a TIG or Spool Gun and Argon to weld aluminum.

Mine is mostly on road, but I was speaking from a rust perspective, not the getting smashed and crunched angle.

Believe me, If I spent that kind of money on a body, it would never see rocks!

Sammies are dis-appearing fast... frames are easy to make bodies not so much! For me it's just keeping them alive, if they all rust away we'll have to drive Jeeps! Ughh!

For all its faults it is bling! Imagine it with a carbon fiber hood! :laugh: Seriously though, for the guys in canadia with the sweet lwb zuks rusting all over this may be good. Besides they have been making fj and cj bodies out of aluminum for years. If I wanted a mall crawler that would be sweet. I used to want a LWB, until Rick and Elotsip did his stretch! Better wheelbase, and better departure angle than a LWB.
