Aight, so i have the sidekick power steering on my samurai but with 33's its gotten tough to turn i think the pump is going out i was wondering if anyone has upgraded the pump to like a toyota or like an s-10 that has a bit more power cause i don't want to totally redo my steering yet just to have it ready for when i do upgrade any ideas on what would work?

Very good question. I think I have heard of some using toyota power steering although I havent seen anything posted about it anywhere.  I will be keeping a eye on this thread as I would like to move to 33's also.

I would think so.

I would say add a power steering cooler to your system.  That might help you out, keep the whining and lose of power down.

Toyota power steering is a very common thing to add to Samurais.  Its one of the best upgrades you can do for your steering.  It will handle large tires and its tough as nails.  The box can also be drilled and tapped for hydro assist very easily.

You just need to find an 86+ Toyota power steering setup.
Drill, sleeve, and plate the frame.  Make or buy a pump bracket, and get some hoses made up.  Add a cooler if you would like.

I have it on my rig, have no complaints.  Can steer with my pinkie.

my computer crashed a week ago, so I cant find it right now. anyways there is two modifications you can do to a stock trackick pump to make it handle bigger tires. one mod is putting a washer about the thickness of a penny on top of the spring that controls the pressure bleed off and the other is to drill out one of the ports a little for more fluid capacity. I have not done it my self but there is lots of people that have. maybe someone knows more and can help you out. there is a nice writeup on zukiworld or zuwharrie cant remember what site.
