« on: December 20, 2009, 04:17:42 AM »
my low beams and day time running lights work fine but as soon as i switch on my hi beams every thing goes out,and no blue dash indicator.
if i hold on my hi beam switch (pull it toward me )  they do come on and the blue dash comes on.

i am thinking switch, can anybody confirm this before i go and order one

I had this happen to me you need to take the steering wheel off and get to the switch at the base of the bar...I found that a small piece had broke and wedged itself in to another spot which caused the same problem you have...I used a haines manual i borrowed from the library to show me how to get the steering wheel and covers off...Its not a hard job providing you don't have an air bag like my 94...hope this helps...if you have any questions let me know...

woah ! yes i do have an airbag  (forgot about that) that would suck if it deployed .

how can i disarm it

if you hadn't said that i would have just gone out and started to remove the steering wheel!!
i tend to forget about them.

I'm not sure you'd have to check in a manual or online or something...but once you get that wheel off and the cover for the column you'll be able to see whats going on...The switch itself looks like a ball that moves 4 ways if I remember correctly and one of the clips that sets the highbeams off is probably broken...atleast thats what was wrong with mine...Hope this helps...

Hah.  I had one of my lo-beams go out, and the blue light was on all the time, in my 97 Sport.
