Hello All.. First Post..

Just picked up an '87 Tin Top is pretty darn good shape.. Basically bone stock.. I am coming to the pro's for advice..

This little jeep is just gonna be a deer-lease rig for me and my boy here in swampy South East Texas.. I would like to be able to stuff some 32x11.50's underneath it.. I am gonna be flat towing the little guy, probably wont even register it for road use..

Questions..

Since I'm not craling or muddin this thing, what is the most cost effective suspension lift and how much do I need to lift it?
To pull the 32's, do I need to change gears or will low range handle it?
Any recommendations on a tow bar?

Generally anything else I should know about these little trucks?

One of the more popular quick build is SPOA, 31" tires and Transfer case gears.  Toss some lockers in the front and rear and that rig will go anywhere.  Going up to the 32" tires you might need to do some fender trimming or go with YJ springs at the same time as your lift.  That should give you room to run the 32-33" tires.  I used to run a a spring over with trimmed fenders and squeezed 33" tires underneath.  An extra leaf in the front kept the springs from over-arching and let me run that way for the first few years.

An easy upgrade for the axles is to switch to Chromoly axles, Trail Tough has them available for both the front and rear at an affordable price.  From the sounds of what you will be running in though you should be fine, just don't throw it in reverse with the wheels cranked.  I would run stock axles until they break, then upgrade as needed.

I would keep her licensed for road use, they are great for running around town in.  Just not so much on the freeway.  Then again, you probably don't have to worry about snow.  :D
