YJ swap done - new questions ??
« on: December 03, 2009, 10:15:17 AM »
I got my YJ install almost done on my '87 tintop. Just need to install bumpstops.
I ended up going with 5-pack used springs all the way around and a TT m/l kit.
I took off a set of 2" lift Bonz-Eye springs and installing the YJ springs gave me about a 1/2" more lift in the rear but about 1/2" less lift in the front.
- Is it typical to get less lift on the front because of the engine, bumper, winch weight on the front end ??

Also my passenger front shackle and the drivers rear shackle are crooked. Not sure if this is someting to worry about or if it is something I can fix. The springs appear straight, the mounts appear straight, the shackle was new and looks straight... Not sure what to think about it.... thoughts ???

Thank you for the help !!

Here is a pic of the passenger front... not sure if I installed something or tightened something wrong.... not sure if I should worry about this or if just drive it...

If you give your front end a good push to the right do they sit crooked the other direction?

I'll give it a try in the morning and see.
What if they do or don't ????

If they do then you just have a little bit of slop in the front end, not much that can be done about it.  If it doesn't then you have something tweaked slightly, and it probably isn't an issue.

As for your spring issue, I would see about picking up another leaf for the front.  That will probably fix your height difference issue.
