88 Sammy, No fuel through carb
« on: November 11, 2009, 03:56:17 PM »
New fuel pump working fine. Fuel into carburetor, but will only run when primed with raw fuel into venturi. No fuel from accelerator pump, and apparently no fuel through main jets. Is there a anti diesel fuel cut off that might be bad, or just a crappy Hitachi that has sat too long?

There is 'computer control' of that carb. Check connections and that the computer is getting power. If you have a buddy with a spare unit or vehicle try doing some troubleshootin by swapping.

Good luck, Eric

Happened to me before so here goes. There is a screen filter inside the carb on the feed to the float. I removed the  parts needed to get to the elbow the fuel line hooks to off. I sprayed carb cleaner into the hole the elbow came off of. There is small screen filter inside that can get plugged. Also the float can stick shut. I also took off the level window and sprayed in there too. I put it back together and it fired right up. Hope it helps.

My sanmmi sat for a while too, I put the kit in and she run good when she wanted to.  Never did perform right.  I broke down and got a Weber 32/36.  And cut in a 2" exhaust (thrush turbo 30 bucks from A zone), 7' tail pipe ($13). vcMan these sammi really screams now.  Yoiu better hold on when the secondary kicks in.  Next year maybe a RV 2 cam, calmimi header

Good luck on your hightachis

Thanks, I'm out to the shop to play a little and see what I can find. Thinking about a Harley CV setup if this fails.
