Cooling system on a 93 4D Sidekick

So i've been wondering why my motor is eating coolant. So yesterday when i got home i decided to test it out run all the air out on a new refill.

Now here's the noobish part.

I  opened her up and topped her off at the new radiator cap, tried to work as much air out through the hose, cranked her over and let her run for all of 4 sec before i started watching my own blow hole under the hood. (im used to running my motors with cap off to get air out. I know the thermostat is kinda finicky but the motor stays |removethispart|@ 1/4 - 1/2  on the temp gauge. Another thing, after topping it off last time i started plooming water vapor out my tailpipe until the motor was fully warmed up. No noticable power loss.

no sputtering of any sort. weird. whats your insight? Some say a thermostat thats almost closed causing back pressure but i dunno.

Im pretty sure the head gaskets going just gonna wait till i get a head rebuild. But trying to get one is ridiculous here in the PNW

You might give Liberty Overland a shout as they are just a bit to your south.  Eric could probably hook you up.  You have the 16v in that right?

yeah. I know the seals are do as welll as a good valve grind. I know i want to try the torquer cam as well. Just wondering if getting the block blueprinted is worth it. Or try rebuilding the bottom end on my own......
