First off, please allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Josh, I live in East TN and just purchased my first Samurai. It's a 92 model with about 80k on the clock. It's in decent condition and I'm trying to fix it up a little. Overall, my goals are a vehicle to drive every day back and forth to work (15 miles round trip) and still be able to have fun on the weekends. Here's what I picked up from Hazzard, KY (think Daisy Dukes):
I started doing some routine maintenance, and have developed a problem. Being a 92 model, it's a 8V 1.3L fuel injected. The dist cap, rotor and plug wires look pretty new and I just replaced the plugs with NGK plugs as specified in the owners manual. They're gapped at .030. There was a pretty good oil leak around the valve cover gasket and dist housing, so I replaced the gasket and resealed the dizzy.
Now for the problem: I'm getting a stumble at part throttle that clears up beyond about 2/3 or 3/4 throttle and pulls fine. It feels like there's a big vacuum leak somewhere. I've searched the engine compartment and checked the vacuum lines with carb cleaner but noticed no change. It idles fine, but hunts around sometimes. I thought I might have re-installed the dizzy 1 tooth off, but when checking the timing, it appears to be 8-10 degrees BTDC.
I've exhausted all ideas and am asking for help. Thanks in advance.
