Unless my borderline-psychic powers have failed me, you are talking about the oil pump.
It sits right behind the crankshaft timing belt gear and covers/contains the front crank seal.
IMPORTANT NOTE: (Stop me if you have heard this
)
Be very careful when removing the big crank bolt from the front of the crankshaft!!
Apply a
little heat (not make-it-glow-red heat!) from a propane torch - the kind you use to sweat copper pipes together with - to break down the "lock-tite" stuff that they use at the factory. Secure the crankshaft from turning at the flywheel using vicegrips and hand-loosen the bolt with a ratchet and a cheater bar. Don't use an air tool!
If you break this bolt off, you are in a world of hurt!
