new carb
« on: September 17, 2009, 08:23:16 PM »
Hi I just bought an 86 sami.....running on 2 cylinders compression was 155 on all 4.....changed plugs....good spark....found some vac lines off....followed schems on hood....I am pretty sure the mcv is bad....could never really adjust carb as it was all over the place....i did get it to smooth out.....I plugged the small line coming off the mcv....going down into the intake......running good.....but can't idle down....I don't like all that stuff on the carb....can someone tell me which carb to purchase....I am thinking weber....but don't know which one.....and should I get the manual choke model....it is a 1.3.....bought it to hunt out of....good shape.... but I am hearing a roaring sound coming from the rear end.....how do I check it....are they noisy.....140k miles?....thanks :-\

Are you sure you are adjusting the idle screw . . . it is tucked really close to the carb body on the firewall side of the carb. I just purchased a rebuilt carb off of ebay for $250 without a core charge for my 86 TinTop. It fixed all of the problems due to the worn out one. Passed the CA smog test with flying colors.

I am pretty sure....looks like it is at the bottom of the carb.....firewall side.....screw is facing passenger side front wheel well....we don't have all the emmission stuff so for 250.00....think I am going weber....Thanks fro the reply
