engine stalls while driving
« on: September 16, 2009, 06:37:46 PM »
Ok so i bought this samurai for 500 no big deal I bought it cause it came with a plow. it hadnt been on the road since 2002. But was used for a yard truck. So I have fixed this thing all up replaced like all the metal, floor boards, changed altinator spark plugs wires distriubuter button fuel filter. but hears the thing the samurai wont stay running while your driving. its sputters an dies while driving under load. It Idiels fine. I have the idol adjusted an it's fine. I have adjusted the timming but the timming doesnt seem to matter to much. If I retard it all the way I just adjust the idol screw an it runs fine or the opposite. So does anyone have any idea of what else it could be I noticed that there is a vacume advance on the distributor but it isnt hooked up is that somthing that needs to be hooked up on a samuri. an if so were would i find the vac line off the carburator? any ideas would be super I have changed the gas it has 8 gallons of good fuel with additives .

Ok so I had two vacume lines that were unhooked that I found an one vacume line that comes off the air filter that is broken all together. I pulled out the timming light an Timed the old girl from Top dead center an 10 degrees back. An well It runs Whoo hoo. It gave me two spitting an sputtering fits since all this an it happend with in 80 miles so an when it was spitting an sputtering I just turned it off for a minute an started it an it ran fine after. Im hoping its just the old gass going thrue an plugging the filter. so Im going to change the filter the next 3 fill ups on gass just to get all the old crap out of the gas tank an what not. That is unless someone on here has another sugestion.

yea cam timming was a possiablility. the zuk for the last like 6 years or so has been a plow truck so its been driven hard at high rpm none stop. so It would have been possiable for the timing belt to jump a tooth or two.
