MAKES A GROWLING NOISE THAT ALMOST DISAPPEARS AFTER FIVE MINUTES OF WARM UP. ALSO GOES AWAY WITH CLUTCH PEDAL IN. IS IT A GEAR ? DO i ADJUST THE CLUTCH CABLE?MPLEASE HELP

I know those throw out bearing's can get loud over time...... might want some back history to help out diagnosis.....

Last tune up on trany?
Is the throw out bearing original?
Mileage On the existing trany or parts?
Only at certain speeds?

I dont that information because the seller kept giving me differenrt stories.

strange that it would go away after warm up... usually if a throwout bearing (aka clutch release bearing) is going out it makes noise regardless of gear oil temp.

when cold does it still go away when you push in clutch pedal?

Try replacing your gear oil.  We had one with a similar issue that went away when we filled the transmission with the standard 80-90 weight gear oild.

Did you use synthetic gear oil? Just curious about GL4/GL5, synthetic.

You want to be careful with the synthetics, if you pick some up you have to make sure it is yellow metal friendly.  Otherwise they will eat up the bronze in the transmission/transfer case.

I put some in my Tracker and it made the shifting worse, but my syncro's are a little worn and when I drained the oil out to switch back it was almost black.  I think the synthetic went through and picked up all the garbage from 100+ miles of ownership.  Hard to tell if it would shift smoother with putting syntetic back in as I don't feel like doing it. 

A Sammy owner in my club users synthetic and loves it.  Others here can probably chime in on their experiences with different oils in the transmission.
