Tracker Std Rims (whats the bigest tire to fit them??)
« on: August 01, 2009, 02:04:59 PM »
I have 5 Tracker Alum Mags with Std tracker sized Tires.
The Tire shop says they can put 235 75 R 15s  on them 15 inch rims.
Can i go any bigger or do i need to change rims.

Theses are very nice proper Alum tracker Mags so i would like to use em.
Is there any tire thats like a AT tire thats higher than 235s 75 r 15  that i could buy for the Alum rims i have now?

Im installing my 3 inch Calmini Suspension lift soon thats why i want the bigger tires.

they might be a 7" rim and might be a 8" one too.

If you got the 8" then there is probably some offset to them. You can run a 10" wide tire and some people will go up to 12.5. I like to run the 10's with some good offset for 12.5 but that is just me.

You can stuff the 10" wide tire on a 7" and won't have too many issues. The problem I ran into was that the narrow rim made the tire a little higher and if the rim has no offset it will cause some rubbing. You might have to trim the little lip on the front bumper.

If you are not sure just mount one tire and put it on the front. Try driving around and see if it rubs at full lock. The back won't rub if the fronts rub a little.

I think there 7 inchs wide maby less i will go measure em.

Crap  :(  there like 6 inchs wide maby a tad wider. they are alum and say Suzuki on them.

I was hopeing to be able to use these with 10s or close to 10s.
there off set about 4 inchs. thats from the inside of the bolting face to the inside of the rims outer edge.

I used to run 30X9.50-15's on 15X7 wheels with no problems. Sell yours on Flea-Bay or CL, Steelies look better and are cheaper to replace when you "Taco" them!

I used to run bfg 31x10.5 mt on the stock 15x5.5 rim. The local tire shop was a little hesitant at first, but got it done. They said the hardest part was to put the weights on afterwards.

How do you measure Rims  ???
I checked and outside to outside is 7 but from bead to bead would be less so say 6.5 Inches.
Maby my rims would work.  :D

Your side walls will buldge some, but heck, that will just act like a rim protector. IMO,  If you can get the tire store to mount them, go for it. BTW, rim width is typically measured inside bead to inside bead.

OK thanks for the Replys. I took the rims to a freind with a tire machine hes gona take the 235 75 R 15s and mount em on them rims for me there Wild tracs tires like new! and there mine.
235s will do i guess.
They will be good Spares on the Suzuki alum rims if nothing else.

The tire Place said they would charge me $67 each for steel rims 8 inch wide and $876 for Wildcountry XTX sport tires which are 31x 10.50 x 15

but thats like $1100 or i can live with the 235 75 R 15s wild trac tires that i have already so cost is like $100 for mounting and balance.  :-\ so im leaning towards the 235s which are like 28.5 inchs tall anyway.
hard decision. guess the 235s will be better on gas eh?
